More than half of all inmates have mental illness.
Early diagnosis and treatment can help reduce unfavorable outcomes.
My name is Billy Hicks and I am a Deacon at Beaver Ruin Road Baptist Church located in Norcross, GA.
On Saturday, November 16, 2013, Yvette Searson did a presentation on Mental Health Awareness at our Community Outreach Event which we called "The Harvest".
The information was very eye opening for all of us. It was in laymen's terms and she made it applicable to the audience. It was actually personal for me as she shared scenarios that I have experienced in my own family. She was presented with some tough questions that she handled very well.
I would highly recommend getting this information out to the masses in order to help those that are dealing with family members, friends and/or love ones that are dealing with mental health issues; however, they do not know that there is help.
As I stated earlier, Yvette did an excellent job in helping us realize that mental illness is a serious issue and that it must be addressed before it is too late.
